Privacy
You can use hitaadit without an account. If you make one, we keep your e-mail address and what you save, and nothing else. We don't sell data, and there are no ads.
Updated 6 November 2026.
Who is responsible
hitaadit is run by Ole Einar Bjørhusdal, a sole proprietorship in Norway. Questions about your data: hello@hitaadit.no.
What we keep, and why
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your e-mail address | To log you in with a one-time code and keep your account apart from others | Until you delete your account |
| Places, trips and the vehicle you save | So they are there on every device you log in on | Until you remove them or delete your account |
| Login records (time, IP address) | Security, and limiting how many codes can be sent | Kept by our database provider for a short time |
The legal basis is the agreement you make when you create an account (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)): we need these things to give you the account. Making an account is your choice.
Stored in your browser
Some things never leave your device: places saved before you log in, the map settings you pick, your own cost numbers and whether a panel is open. They sit in your browser's local storage, not in cookies, and are not sent to us. When you log in, your saved places move into your account; when you log out, they are cleared from the browser. You can clear the rest in your browser's settings at any time.
We use no tracking or advertising cookies.
Who handles it for us
- Our database provider stores accounts and what you save, on servers in Ireland (EU).
- Our e-mail service sends the e-mail with your login code, from servers in Ireland (EU).
- Our web host serves the website and counts visits (pages, country, device type) without identifying you.
- Our map provider draws the maps. Your browser asks it for map tiles, so it sees your IP address.
- Our font provider serves the typefaces. Your browser fetches them directly, so it sees your IP address.
Each of them only handles data to provide that service, under a data processing agreement. Some are US companies; where data can reach the US, they use the EU's standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Want to know which companies they are? Write to hello@hitaadit.no.
Your rights
- See what we keep: everything is on your Account page. Want it as a file? Write to hello@hitaadit.no.
- Change or remove it: remove saved things on the Account page, or ask us.
- Delete your account: on the Account page. It removes your e-mail address and everything you saved, at once and for good.
- Complain: if you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet.
Changes
If we start keeping something new, this page changes first, with a new date at the top.
